Under what circumstances are Chinese visa likely to be refused?

    1. Incorrectly filled out visa application form

The application form is one of the most important documents in the process of applying for a Chinese visa, and it is the basis for the embassy or consulate staff to decide whether or not to approve your visa. Inaccurate information such as spelling mistakes, wrong passport number or invalid address may lead to the rejection of your visa application.

    2. Applying for the wrong visa category

It is very important for applicants to choose the right visa type in the application form and submit the matching documents. The required documents for different visa types are different, so read and understand the scope of each visa carefully, then fill in the visa category and submit the matching documents according to your real situation.

    3.Missing Application Documents

Before submitting your application, it is important not to take anything for granted, but to double check the latest application requirements for your visa type and gather all the necessary information. If any of these documents are missing, your

    application may be refused.

    4. Coming from a sensitive country

Applicants from countries with frequent wars, terrorist attacks, political unrest, or countries with nationalities that frequently overstay their visas, or countries with strained relations with China will result in a higher chance of visa refusal.

    5. Applicant has a criminal record

Having a criminal record does not mean that all applications will be rejected. However, if the applicant has committed a very serious crime, the likelihood of a visa denial increases significantly. Misdemeanor offenses usually have no effect, especially when applying for a tourist visa, which depends on the specific type of visa being applied for.

    6. Poor health of the applicant

For foreigners wanting to enter China, adult applicants are required to provide a medical certificate if they have some sort of infectious disease. In most cases, short-term visa applications such as tourist visas and business visas may be more lenient. However, for work visas or study visas, this can cause the visa application to fail.

    7. Working in sensitive professions

Applicants working in religious or military professions may have a higher rate of visa refusal as these professions are considered sensitive by the government. Although none of these are explicitly stated, there are indeed cases that illustrate this.

    8. Embassy and Consulate Notification Requirements

Chinese embassies in various countries can formulate their own policies on coming to China in accordance with the relevant requirements of the country, so foreigners applying for visas to China should be subject to the notification of the embassy of the consular district where they are applying for visas.

    9.Policy Reasons Not Supported

On August 4, 2021, the National Immigration Administration issued a notice to strictly limit non-emergency and non-essential cross-border movement of people. To further strengthen the publicity and guidance, strict approval of the issuance of citizens' entry and exit permits, non-essential, non-emergency exit reasons, the temporary issuance of ordinary passports and other entry and exit documents. That is to say, the domestic immigration department can strictly approve the license application of our Chinese citizens, and can also strictly control the application of foreigners. Similarly, the embassy will be based on domestic and foreign conditions, for non-essential foreigners to China, refused to issue visas, the reason, not the data problem or personal qualifications, but the policy issues, belong to the objective existence.

    10. Political reasons

This last reason for visa refusal can be said to belong to force majeure. Because of political reasons, it is the same as saying that the diplomatic problems of the two countries, so the visa certainly can not be issued, such as the July 2020 Chinese Embassy and Consulate in Houston by the U.S. escrow.
